Set on the white sands of Juanillo Beach, Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana is the ultimate destination for a luxury family vacation. Cap Cana is a private retreat inside the city of Punta Cana. The gated community of Cap Cana is made up of 30,000 acres of flawless beaches, and oceanfront roads and home to the sister resorts Hyatt Ziva and Zilara Cap Cana.
Built in 2019, Hyatt Ziva and Zilara joined the Playa Resort group of all inclusive Caribbean resort destinations. The property is home to the family friendly Hyatt Ziva and adults only Hyatt Zilara. Our family had the opportunity to take a multi-generational trip in summer 2021.
Upon arrival, the breath taking views from the open air lobby are beyond picture perfect. We were immediately greeted by a staff member who checked our names and quickly escorted us to the Club Lounge for check in. Both Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara have standard and club level room categories. One of the many benefits of club level is the personal check in experience in the club lounge.
Arrival & Check In
Once inside the lounge, we were greeted by concierge and discussed our reservation information while sipping a wonderful welcome drink.
After completing our check in with our concierge, we were escorted to our rooms by a hotel attendant where our luggage greeted us already. The attendant gave us an overview of the room amenities and answered last minute questions. Our week long stay would be in building 1, a club level oceanview junior suite. Since we were traveling with multiple family members, we also had an adjoining room and two connecting rooms. The concierge was able to arrange all four rooms adjacent to one another.
The location of the room was absolutely fantastic: Building one with direct views of the resort grounds and the ocean. The large bathroom offers a beautiful tiles shower with rainfall shower head, double vanity area and a separate toilet room. The room was also very spacious. At about 600 square feet, the room came equipped with all the modern amenities. The room has a master light system that allows for ease at night to turn everything off, yet a sensor in the bathroom area that offers a dim light in the dark. Bottled water and glasses are provided for brushing, as you should not drink the sink water on the island. Fully stocked mini bar and coffee maker – along with a very large furnished balcony.
The majority of the rooms at the resort are junior suites – which offer King bed with sofa sleeper or two queen beds with sofa sleepers. There are also a limited number of swim up junior suites, which offer a semi-private pool off the balcony and ocean front rooms with and without swim ups that are the closes rooms to the ocean with direct views of the white sands and blue sea. Finally, the resort also has a select number of one bedroom and presidential suite options.
After settling in, the next decision is to choose which delicious restaurant to dine. Hyatt Ziva and Zilara restaurants do not require reservations. Guests at Hyatt Zilara can dine at all restaurants at both the Zilara and Ziva. While adults from the Ziva can dine at Zilara sans kids.

Activities and Entertainment
The activities and entertainment team was OUTSTANDING! Huge shout out to Delfi who became a daily ray of sunshine with his energy and excitement. Each morning, Delfi came to let us know the activities of the day and signed us up to participate. From Ping Pong to Bingo to Beach Olympics to Water Aerobics – this resorts has a variety of activities throughout the day. Both the kids and the adults in our group had a blast each day and were far from ever thinking they were going to be bored. The activities staff at the Hyatt Ziva are some of the kindest and most hard-working people we have ever met. They became a part of our family during the trip. Each day I would hear the kids asking “where is Delfi?” or “I wonder what activity Delfi has for us today?”
Each evening offered night time entertainment. Musical performances, Magician and a Michael Jackson show were some of our family favorites. The large outdoor theater was a perfect setting to enjoy the show. Plus, the sports bar was close by to grab a night cap while enjoying the show.
The Hyatt Ziva as two dedicated areas for kids. Anac Pac is perfect for the littles to the pre-teens. This supervised area provided hours of fun for the 10 year old in our group. The Time Capsule was an exclusive area for teenagers with video games, pool table, foosball and much more. Each day different activities were provided. From cooking classes to beach and pool games, she was able to have fun and meet new friends. Check out her #KidExpert review:
The kids club was really fun. I got to paint on the beach and did beach games and pool games. I also made cookies. The kids area had a gaming area and a fun tree house play area. The best part was making a lot of new friends. ~Cameron, Age 10
Canapolis Water Park
When you think Caribbean resort, the first thing that may come to mind is beach and pool time. But, the Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana can add to that with an amazing on site Water Park. Canapolis Water Park boasts a lazy river with grotto cascade, water cannons, five water slides and a splash area for the littles. Plus, a food truck to grab lunch and drinks while splashing away. Canapolis offers so much for adults and the kids. We had so much fun at Canapolis that we went multiple times throughout our week. I think the Lazy River was our family favorite — even though relaxing was hard to come by with tons of water falls and water cannons!
To sum up our stay at the Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana …. A-MAZ-ING! From the beauty of the Cap Cana beaches, to the superior staff, to the delicious food and drinks – our stay was over the top five stars. When looking at a destination that would make the whole family happy from the kids to the parents to the grandparents, the Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana knocked it out of the park. We were able to make memories to last a lifetime and gained experiences that we will never forget.
